How we verify listings
A verification label should tell you what was checked.
The Woofians team checks listing facts against sources and records what was checked. Verification is evidence about specific details, not an endorsement of a service.
Verified official source
What verified means
Core listing facts were checked against an official business or municipal source on the date shown. It does not mean Woofians visited the place, tested the service or guarantees the result.
Freshness and review cycle
What fresh means
Fresh means the facts were checked within the listing's current review cycle. It is not a guarantee that hours, prices or availability have stayed the same since the check. Call ahead when timing matters.
Source hierarchy
We start with the source closest to the fact.
Official sources
Official business websites, municipal pages and other first-party public sources come first. We use the source that can speak directly to the detail, such as an address or opening-hours page.
Business submissions
A business can send details and a supporting source. We label that information as business-provided until Woofians checks it independently. A submission does not guarantee publication or a higher position.
Community corrections
Reports from people who use the directory help us find changes, closures and missing details. We compare the report with available sources before changing a public listing.
A dated check
What a listing can show
Where the data allows, a listing records its source, source organization, date checked, fields supported by that source and next review date. One source can confirm an address without confirming today's hours or dog policy.
How reviews are checked
A signed-in member submits a rating and an experience-based comment. The review waits for moderation before publication. We look for useful detail, a clear connection to the place and signs of spam, copied text or private information. We do not import ratings from other sites.
If details conflict
We compare conflicting claims with the best available source. The Woofians team may mark the listing for a new check, add a note or limit a detail until it can be confirmed. A business statement and a user review remain separate.
How businesses can correct a listing
Use the report link on the listing or email [email protected]. Include the place name, the field that changed, the current detail, a source URL and your role when relevant. We may ask for more evidence before editing.
